Well, in general I definitely state my opinion in many cases. I’m sure that there have been times where it has been slightly inappropriate to explain how I personally feel. My parents have always stressed to be as polite as possible, especially to teachers. However, they have also explained to me that I need to always question others. I have learned throughout my years to make logical sense out of as much as I can. Therefore, whenever I have been at all confused by anything, I generally take the time to inquire about the truth in the subject matter.
One of my major hobbies is playing music – either through the guitar or trumpet. And a great aspect of playing it well is that you need to interpret the compositions in a sensible, logical manner. So, I continuously deal with a number of different interpretations with my music. Basically, there have been times when my band director will stress for me to have a certain approach in playing “Carnival of Venice”, while my trumpet professor will have a completely different explanation for me. So, therefore, there comes a time when I am forced to make my own judgment and opinion on which is the most probable method in performing this piece of music. And honestly, I have become used to the concept of questioning interpretations due to my musical career. So, generally, I do not mind addressing the matter.
In a slightly different subject, when it comes to reading: it depends on what I’m reading. If I personally chose a book to read, then I will basically become engulfed in every last detail. However, I have never quite enjoyed reading the required novels for school. So, therefore, I will, at times, skim over the pages and not have an appropriately thorough read. As for discussing books and passages in class, I essentially have an open-mind and freely state my opinions with others.
