"how to become a writter"

Lorrie Moore’s article “how to become a writer” is the best article I have read so far in this class. I absolutely love how random she is in her stories and I can relate to her in similar ways. I really enjoy reading things that can grab and keep a hold of my attention. With her writing style it kept me interested in her topic and essay. I see her writing style as unique and defined and it fits her. Although she is random she is keeping the readers attention through out the essay.
I see lorries writing style as humorous and far from serious. She gave an example of being caught reading a playboy magazine and how she shrugged it off by mentioning the little girl took her medicine like a big girl. I see the idea of an “insane writer” not being cliché. How many people actually write insanely not that many in my eyes and I personally enjoy reading insane writing.
In lorries article she has no sense of plot what so ever but I find that unique and interesting not every story or essay should be a cut out and have a plot or even the generic five paragraph essay format. not all essays have to be have a plot in my eyes it depends on what the subject is and how the writer fells about his or her writing style.
I can think of a couple of essays I enjoyed reading over the years and one of them was from my junior year in high school my teacher had us write a descriptive essay describing what we love. I absolutely fell in love with my classmates essay he described the love for music and he was very descriptive in doing so he sucked me into a feeling of serenity when it came to the words he used to describe music and also the sense he involved.

I'm glad to see that I am not the only one that was taken by her "insane writing". I also thought it was really unique and it does fit her perfectly. I like the little anecdotes she gives like the playboy insident and the conversations with her roommate. it made me feel like she was speaking to me spesifically and we were old friends. one of the reasons i liked it so much was the fact that it did not fit any models of writing at all it was all her own. i too hate the FCAT five paragraph blah blah blah essays, they are way too structured and don't allow for the writers tone to shine through.
