In toby fulwiler’s “the role of audiences” I really became aware that the audience of my writing has a big effect on how I write. I believe that writing for your teacher is the hardest audience to write for. You never know if he or she is going to like what you write and if I do not write in a specific manner then it will not catch the attention of the audience I am aiming for. Thus making it very difficult to do. But at the same time reading the prompt for the assignment will help me out a lot.
Usually when writing for a class I have an idea of what the teacher wants and that makes it a little easier. When it comes to writing papers I sometimes find myself writing for my audience and not for myself. So my paper doesn’t seem to be me just what my audience would want to hear.
As a student my peers are also an audience to my writing. It can be a little scary at times when they read and help edit my papers. For one I feel like I have to impress them with a good paper and not sum shiitty draft. The good thing about it is that they are honest and can tell me whats wrong before the teacher has to so it saves time and in the end it will all be very helpful. So its worth the time and effort.
The audiences of media and advertisement have a lot to do with how merchandise, food, and even tv shows are directed to certain people. For example clothes are being modeled by attractive young adults, fast food chains use the colors red and yellow because they make you feel hungry, and tv shows are advertised on the channels that their specific audiences watch.
So in all audiences play a huge role in writing, media, and advertising.

I really liked your opening paragraph. I agree that it is hard to write for a teacher as we never know if they will like what you write or if their values are similar to yours, therefore agreeing with you. I also agree that in class it is easy to know what a teachers wants to hear, especially in our free writes. I found it hard at first having my peers edit my paper as I am always unsure what they will think of it and in turn, how they will percept me because of it. I really enjoyed reading your response and found I could relate to a lot of it.
