BP5

Mark Mason made incredible revisions to his paper. 1) He created a new and more effective introduction paragraph 2) he expanded ideas and made them more clear THROUGHOUT his paper and 3) if he had a page limit, I am sure he met it. I could not believe how well his paper had evolved from the first draft to the third, it was incredible. No lie, reading the first draft felt like I was having bamboo shoots pushed up my nails... it was painful. The second draft I could see the effort of making concepts/ideas more clear with a few added sentences for "flavor" and by the third he totally had control over his topic. He was quite successful.
The title of this read did grab my attention and I believe it was applicable to the topic of his essay. Through his essay Mark describes the adaptions made by film makers an such to this novel 1984. Mark also discusses how each media has their own limitations. 1984 in this case being a book did not hold much visual quality in respect that it describes emotions and feelings toward the current government. In transforming 1984 into a graphic novel with the title V for Vendetta, the concepts and occurrences had to be described through art which can hold just as much feeling and depth but without many words. The film Brazil held the same kind of artistic limitation in that the amount of description and numerous monologues held in books are not acceptable in cinema. Mark also saw that in each adaption of 1984 they were not merely imitations of the classic but individual works of ingenuity although there was a common theme between them all.
The revisions I have made to my own papers has increased their value immensely. Sometimes I will go back to what I have written and be entirely confused about where I was coming from, nothing makes sense. It is sometimes difficult for me to cut things from my paper, just because I spent so much time working on it!
The hardest part of revising my papers is thinking to myself, " would anybody else understand what I am saying?" because I know what I am saying why wouldn't anybody else! Hahaha, just kidding. I actually have to ask myself that on a regular basis. I have such abstract thoughts sometimes...
