I try to keep my style and or voice when writing papers. I think it's important for the writer to keep this throughout their writing. It makes a writer unique. Who in the world would want to read papers or other forms of writing that were all written in the same voice or style? That would be so boring. I love reading articles or papers, where a writer's style and voice really stands out, and to me it makes the writing stan out more, keeping me more and more interested, and reading on. Like Vonnegut said about rambling on, its annoying and makes the reader mad, or at least that's how i feel when a writer rambles on and on and on... I like his advie on "5. Sound Like Youself." He says, "All these varieties of speech are beauitul, just as the varieties of butterflies are beautiful." I see that as very true. There was once a girl in my high school english class that was born in Jamaica, but she pretty much lived in the United States all her life. When She wrote, her accent came out, especially when she read her writing aloud to the class. To me, it was absolutely beautiful to hear her accent, it definietly made her writing stand out. Her accent and style of writing drew the whole class in practically at the palms of her hands. It was awesome. I also never realized why we read Shakespeare and other old forms of writing in high school. After Vonnegut, i realized why. It's to show students to write exactly what you want to say, no matter how short or simple it is. Sometimes less really is better, just like the famous line, "To be or not to be." Vonnegut's "How to Write With Style" really helped me in the simple aspects of writing, and i think some of his advice i'll put to use in my next paper.

I see your point when you want to keep your own personal style and voice when you write. It does make the writer unique in their own way. I completely agree I sure don’t want to read papers in the same form and style every single time I would die of boredom. it’s the style and voice that attracts me as well as the content.
