The following blog was written about Jason Mraz’s official website: http://www.jasonmraz.com/#
Well, in relation to my paper, I chose to analyze the official website of Jason Mraz for 2008. I think it absolutely coincides perfectly with the album cover. As I described in my paper, his album cover depicts a rather immature and naïve student. Jason Mraz, young-looking, is sitting at a desk developing extremely ornate paper airplanes. Once you enter the website, it’s pretty much an identical concept. The website has essentially no color and is the most simplest website I have ever encountered. The background color to the website is a dull, cream-color. Basically, the only image that is presented initially is a cartoon-like drawing of a man with a hat – most likely representing Jason Mraz. Most all of the writing on the page seems as though it hand-written. In other words, it basically looks extremely unprofessional, or more or less as a young kid has produced it. Furthermore, there is a great of humor within this page, due to the various options on the sidebar to the left. Essentially, anytime you click on a specific link, such as the “TOUR” option, there is correlating music to go along. This music is Jason Mraz comically reminding you that you have just clicked on the ‘TOUR’ option. The purpose is to rather annoy anyone that views this website, just as a young child annoys adults at times. It seems as though this is a reliable website…As for Facebook, I try never to put an personal information of myself on the website. Therefore, I don’t think that there could be an accurate depiction of my personality. Generally, in terms of other websites, they can be extremely misleading. There have been various versions of certain websites. For instance, many of the websites that you might encounter from ‘GOOGLE’ are not very official. Truthfully, anyone in the world can easily make their own personal version of any website – of course not everyone can have accurate information on everything…Sometimes, it can be very difficult to decide whether to make a presentation through text or visual. But in terms of a movie advertisement, for instance, it is most likely more effective to use a visual, such a movie trailer.

Seeing that most are commenting on their artist's website, Jack Johnson's website is a good one. Unlike other musicians, many of the tabs for Johnson's website are links to his causes to make the earth a cleaner place. He has started to only play in venues that recycle and use certain eco-friendly products. However, I wish there was more bio about him on his website. I also wish he had more announced tour dates. I got to see him when he was in Florida one time a couple of years ago and he has not been close to Florida since.
I love Kayla’s depiction of Jason Mraz. He’s also one of my favorite artists, and I too see him sometimes as a goofy child-like creature. He plays himself off as one, too. His songs are so jocular and upbeat that it’s often reminiscent of the worry-free childhood that most of us have the privilege of experiencing. As for Kayla’s comments about Facebook and Myspace… She’s absolutely right. It’s never a really great idea to put too much information on there. It’s also not tactically sound to try to meet new people on these sites. Think about it: You didn’t put real information up there for fear that some rapist would hunt you down and find you, why do you think that somebody else is going to put up completely truthful information? Sites like these just make me wonder sometimes. I understand that it’s a form of communication and whatnot, and it’s great to have it to plan events and send out invites to everyone you know, but it’s advertised as a place to meet new people, and I’m convinced that this is a very poor idea. Nobody is going to portray themselves accurately. They’ll only let you see what they want you to see, hence the “Myspace angles” in the pictures, and the fact that they have “Interests”, “Hobbies” and “General Information” tabs, but no “Downfalls” or “Things you should know before we meet up” tabs. Maybe under the “General Information” tab, they could replace “Height” with “How many sexual assault crimes have you been convicted of within the past three years?”
Just a thought.
