This essay pretty much confirmed what I already knew was wrong with the world. Coming from the “ghetto” as most would call it I saw this a lot. As a young girl growing up I was exposed to this same kind of stuff. I saw it happen first hand to my father who is by the way a corrections officer and works for the state of California and I have seen it happen to my brother as well as myself. I see the relation of this essay and our current assignment in a way of how black men are portrayed people only see the side of them they want to see and just so happen to be the side that is bad. Not all black men are rapist, robbers, muggers, or murderers. My dad came from the streets and now he is a corrections officer and he has been there for like 40 something years. Although he is an employee of the state he still gets pulled over by the stupid police. I remember one time we were driving through a predominantly rich neighborhood and my father was driving his Denali and he was pulled over by an officer who told him his back light was out my dad got out of his car and went to look at his light and guess what it wasn’t out the cop let him go because he saw my dad’s state uniform in the back window. This is just an example of how American views black males in negative ways only and it makes me mad. I hate how people do this
