In the beginning, I really was a little hesitant at creating this anti-ad. I thought it would kind of be a pointless assignment and that there was not much to learn from it. I found out later I was way wrong. I learned a lot from this assignment and I am glad I did it. When I started writing the paper I had a lot of trouble coming up with one solid idea to write about. I kept coming up with stupid ideas that wouldn’t really fit what I felt I wanted to write about. Eventually I found a wide and general purpose of advertisements that I thought would fit my writing capabilities perfectly. When I actually started writing the paper, I ran into more trouble coming up with an anti-ad. I had no idea how or what to use as an ad, so it was definitely a struggle. I actually didn’t come up with a good idea until after I finished writing a large part of my paper. After looking at the web site I felt like I had a better idea of what I needed to do to make my ad. I found out that I needed to use all the same things that regular ads use to create a successful anti-ad. I was considering doing an anti-ad on the E-Trade commercials, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it because those commercials are just so funny! Then I thought I might do something with the Charmon toilet paper commercials because I just thought the fact of a bear using toilet paper is absurd. In the end I decided to bash McDonald’s. I definitely enjoyed thinking of the idea of an anti-ad more than making one because as I made it I felt that it wasn’t as good as the idea that I had set in my head. Creating the anti-ad was about as hard as I thought that it would be.
