Right from the beginning is when Mike shows us that he is in love with MTV and without it who knows what he would be doing. Although Mike likes to talk down upon some of the hits he then chooses to talk about how they have influenced his life and changed him as a person. I personally agree with him when it comes to this because a lot of music or shows on MTV have an effect on my life. Now wither its a big impact or not, doesn't matter. Although they may not have affected my life or Mike's life in the most positive ways, he and I still learned things about life through the shows on MTV. For example, when Mike talks about Beavis and Butthead and says how bad they were to his life and how they were worse than taking a shot of alcohol. Although MTV may have some negative impacts on Mike’s life, he still gains some knowledge and some good from MTV. For example, he sees how stupid Beavis and Butthead are and act so he learns not to act like that or he will look like a jackass and that would not be very good. Although MTV may use some crude shows to attract audiences, MTV still teaches people things not to do if those people are smart enough to realize that the things that they are doing on the TV are not smart and do make you look dumb. You could say that Mike really did learn from this when he says that after watching these shows that he wants to treat people the way he would want to be treated. Which brings me to say that Mikes writing style can be offensive but most of the time it is very interesting.
