Blog #8
Honestly, I have never really sat down to figure out what my personal writing style is. I have never considered it to be anything original, or spectacular. But I will probably have more of an idea after writing this blog… I will admit, though, I know for a fact that I am a ‘rambler’. It’s so easy to just write any thoughts that come to mind. However, this was one of Kurt Vonneguts’ main points – DO NOT RAMBLE! It’s rather journalistic and extremely useful in certain topics. However, this really cannot be my only style. I have to figure out how to be more professional and thought provoking when it comes to a few papers throughout college…On another note, I am extremely talkative to the rest of the world, in general. Therefore, I usually write conversationally. I just think to myself that I am having a human, face-to-face conversation with my reader. It makes it more realistic to both the reader and me. Honestly, I have read a few books throughout my life that have been rather dull and boring. And I really think that it has to do with the fact that the authors simply write words. Some writers, in my opinion, have just put random thoughts together, non-conversationally. This definitely works for some people, but not for all. When there are just words, I can’t always connect with the author. This is why I enjoy in making more of a ‘relationship’ with some audiences. It makes it more relatable and interesting for both the reader and myself. Even though I ‘ramble’ a great deal, I do think that I somehow “Say what I mean to say”. I just say it in a few different ways. I always attempt in making a clear, concise point – it’s only that I make it a little, too complicated sometimes. And just as I predicted, I now have more of an idea of my real writing style.
