Blog Post #5
"Adaptations, Limitations, and imitations" by mark Mason was not a fun read. It was especially boring seeing as I had to read all of his drafts, I think one would have been enough but then I wouldn't be able to do this blog. Anyways, some revisions that Mason made from his first draft to his other drafts were: he changed tenses in his introduction, added more examples to support his thesis in his introduction, in his body paragraph he added more detail and further explanations to relate back to his thesis and corrected some minor grammar mistakes. In his final draft he used a catchy first sentence to capture the reader, did a little bit more background information on what he is going to be explaining, used even more evidence to prove his point and back up his thesis, he used quotes from the novels he is talking about (which is once again more proof). All-in-all, I believe that mason was semi-successful in his revisions because even though he added more detail and proofs, I think that it may have been a little bit too much extra information and explanations. I believe that the title has nothing to do with his essay. He should have included something to do with the novels that he read. The one revision that did him justice was his introduction. That was the only part of his essay that I enjoyed because it grabbed my attention and actually made me think of comic books and movies. When editing my own paper i do find it hard to cut things out only because after my hard work of thinking of something to write, it is hard to just erase it. The hardest part about revising my own paper is that I am biased towards my own writing and I usually think that it is really good and then when someone else reads it and its not as great as I thought.
